Rule Book Updates Effective July 1, 2024

The Skate Canada Rule Book has been updated for the 2024-2025 season. These rule updates include (but are not limited to):

  • Competition Program Requirements – Adult:  updated requirements for 2024-2025 season, including:
    • Bronze, Silver, Masters, and Masters Elite Free Skating.
    • Pattern Dances.
  • Competition Program Requirements – Podium Pathway:
    • Updated requirements for 2024-2025 season.
    • Updated Assessment Requirements for Pre-Novice Singles, Pairs, and Ice Dance: required assessment has been increased from STAR 5 to STAR 6 in the applicable discipline.
    • Addition of Solo Ice Dance.
  • Competition Program Requirements – STAR:
    • Updated requirements for 2024-2025 season.
    • Updated bonuses for STAR 4.
    • Updated Pattern Dances.
  • Competitions:
    • Updated to reflect new competition structure (Skate Canada Trophy and Skate Canada Cup).
    • Normal Quota of Entries: following a review, and in consultation with the HPDC and Section Technical Directors, there have been several adjustments to the Normal Quota of Entries from Sectionals/Regionals.
    • Start Order for Short Program/Rhythm Dance at the Canadian Figure Skating Championships.
    • Byes: introduction of a Conditional Bye for those assigned to a Junior Grand Prix or Junior International event.
    • Housekeeping.
  • Officials: updates to Conflict of Interest.
  • Scoring of Skate Canada Competitions:
    • Synchronized Skating Program Factor: For categories with a first and second skate, both programs will be multiplied by a factor of 1.0.
    • Addition of Solo Ice Dance.
    • Housekeeping.
  • STAR Assessments:
    • Updated passing requirements for Gold Freeskate Program.
    • Addition of Artistic Challenge Assessment.
